Our MissioN
The International Center for Food Ontology Operability Data and Semantics (IC-FOODS) is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization based in Davis, California USA. As part of its mission to democratize food systems, IC-FOODS brings the brightest minds in semantic web, AI/ML, ontological and mathematical modeling from around the world together with domain experts whose work reside along the Environment⇔Ag⇔Food Processing⇔Diet⇔Health knowledge spectrum.
Together, we are designing and building
the ontological and computational infrastructure
and standards to enable
a Semantic Web of Food, Health, and Sustainability
—aka the Internet of Food.
IC-FOODS assembles experts at annual conferences and across consortia and research networks to provide collaboration opportunities for aggregating, designing, and developing standardized, human and machine readable vocabularies and ontologies that advance the nascent fields of Food Systems, Food, and Health Informatics. Vast technology ecosystems are being enabled that are capable of uniting disciplines and catalyzing powerful insights and discovery across knowledge domains.
